Paul Mendoza

Owner & Operator of Advanced First Aid

Biography

I received paramedic training from the University of Iowa and a Bachelor’s Degree from Bethel University.

Professionally, I’ve practiced paramedic skills for 27-years on an ambulance and as a flight medic/helicopter, for North Memorial Ambulance and Allina Health. Away from those duties, I’m a strong advocate for bystander CPR/AED/first aid training for lay rescuers as well as healthcare professionals.  I’ve been an instructor since I became a paramedic, eventually earning AHA faculty status.  With my experience as a paramedic, a committee advisor for Heart Safe Minnesota, and as the coordinator for North Memorial’s heart safe program, my goal is to change the community’s culture on sudden cardiac arrest from awareness to preparedness, to best save as many people as possible.

In 2001, I teamed up with Medtronic/Physio-Control and the American Heart Association in promoting Public Access Defibrillation (PAD). I’ve personally implemented or aided PAD start-up programs in public and private businesses across the entire USA, Canada, and assisted in England, over 4000 AED’s, and have either trained or helped train over 20,000 people how to perform CPR and operate an AED.
